Long Term Care Insurance
The Committee on Aging in The House of Representatives introduced The Long-Term Care and Retirement Security Act in September of 1998. The bill would encourage people to buy long-term care insurance by establishing a tax deduction for the cost of such insurance.
"Too many family caregivers can tell stories about financial devastation caused by the serious long-term care needs of a family member," Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said. "Because increasing numbers of Americans are likely to need long-term care, it's important to prepare today. This bill will encourage planning and personal responsibility by making long-term care insurance more affordable for many taxpayers."
